I had the absolute honor of photographing a truly magical moment in a lush garden when Jake asked Mallory to marry him, and she joyfully said yes. The light was perfect, filtering through the trees and making the greenery glow. Mallory looked like a bride already in her gossamer dress and lovely, loose locks; every soft fold and stray curl caught the light. Jake surprised her with a bouquet of stunning white roses, and the way she cupped them had my heart.

There were so many little moments that made this unforgettable: the nervous breath before he asked, the way Mallory’s hand flew to her mouth, the ring catching the sun for a brief, bright second, and that burst of pure, uncontrollable excitement when she answered him. I loved switching between intimate close-ups of their expressions and wider frames that captured the garden wrapping around them like a secret world. Those small details, a squeezed hand, a shared grin, a sparkling embrace, are what I live to capture.

Working on moments like this is why I became a photographer.
